Doogie Horner is a writer, illustrator, and comedian. Raised in Pennsylvania, he studied design at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. He spent his early career designing book covers at Quirk Books, creating memorable covers for books like Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.
While working at Quirk, Doogie entered the world of standup comedy. Where art requires long hours of isolation, Doogie found the immediate feedback of standup comedy exhilarating. After winning over a booing audience, he went on to become a semi-finalist on America’s Got Talent.
Doogie is the author and illustrator of The Adventures of Invisible Boy graphic novel series, and the author of This Might Hurt a Bit, A Die Hard Christmas, and many more books. He has two comedy albums, Dad Max and A Delicate Man, the latter of which was an AV Club staff pick. Doogie lives with his family in Western New York.

School and library visits: I enjoy teaching kids about the process of creating comics, and I’d be happy to visit your school. My multi-media presentation shows students how I write and draw a graphic novel, as well as demonstrating the five most important elements of visual storytelling—elements kids can use to create their own comics! For groups of any size, grades 3-6.
